peace

A person about to die usually writes a last will and testament in which he leaves his loved ones his possessions. In this chapter, the Lord was doing that very thing. However, He did not leave earthly things that money could buy, but PEACE. Reading John 14:27 and Jesus says,” Peace I leave with you: my peace I give you"PEACE, inward peace of conscience that arises from a sense of pardoned sin and of reconciliation with God. Christ can give it because He purchased it with His blood at Calvary. It is not given sparingly and selfishly and for a short time. His gift of peace is forever. Why should we be afraid!!

What's in a cross!

Through the sad events of recent days, I have had to face the death of a loved one. Whilst going to the hospital, as mum had just passed away, my eyes were drawn to a large red cross. Through the symbol of the cross there was an assurance imparted to my grief stricken heart. As believers the power of the cross comes to a reality, rather like knowing mathematical formulas from school but, not fully realising their uses, then in the process of life, coming to a serious problem and that mathematical formulary becomes a wonderful way that fixes the problem. The realisation of that learning and the formulas power to the problem.
The cross SPEAKS. Death where is your power....sin where is your bondage. Suffering is not the be all and end all...all is subjected to hope, the resurection..It is the formula to the problems of our fallen race; it is the GLORIOUS hope of all who have trusted CHRIST. “I am the resurrection and the life”. Out side the formula there is no solution to the problem.
No wonder Saint Paul cried: "But God for bid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ"

I see such wonder there, God's wisdom; God's solution to the problem. May we come to grasp its wonder more and more? And as Pastor Si preached recently..."build up from it" not to move away from it as we mature in the Christian walk.

God bless you
